The stone dust and particles give each finish its distinctive colour and texture; nothing is painted or printed on top.

- Botticino — a soft cream/beige natural stone tone.

Finishing: How the Surface Is Treated After Casting
Once cast, the surface finish determines whether a piece reads as glossy and polished or textured and tactile. Bellitalia offers three main finishing treatments.
Polishing
The material is polished either manually or mechanically using robotic machines, which remove the surface layer to reveal the aggregate beneath — giving an elegant, shiny, bright finish.
Bush-Hammering
A mechanical finishing process that breaks the surface layer of the piece, giving it a deliberately rougher, more textured appearance that brings out the fine aggregate stones within the mix.
Sandblasting
A mechanical process using a powerful jet of compressed air and silica sand to remove the superficial material from the surface, exposing the underlying stone aggregate and producing a rougher, natural-looking finish.
Each treatment produces a genuinely different tactile and visual outcome from the same base material — which is why two pieces in the same aggregate colour can look quite different depending on the finishing process specified.
Why the Anti-Decay Coating Matters
Exposed aggregate surfaces — however well made — are still porous to some degree, which is why genuine Bellitalia furniture is finished with a proprietary anti-decay coating rather than left untreated.
The coating system used is a transparent, non-yellowing acrylic-resin primer, engineered specifically for use as a protective fixing coat on outdoor natural stone, concrete and metal surfaces — including monuments, sculptures and quarry-faced stonework, in addition to furniture. It's applied by brush or spray in thin coats (roughly 15–20 microns dry thickness), typically two coats within a 16–24 hour window for best results, and offers:
- Excellent resistance to atmospheric weathering and UV exposure
- Strong surface hardness and scratch resistance
- Either a bright, glossy finish or a "wet effect" glazed look, depending on how the underlying surface absorbs it
- Full cure within 24 hours under normal drying conditions
